Whitney Buchanan is an American project and communications specialist, writer, and activist based in Berlin, Germany with a decade of experience. She is the founder and Managing Director of Ruman Project, a grassroots organization working to foster Christian-Muslim relations and support refugees. Whitney obtained her masters degree in Global Affairs and International Cooperation from the American University in Cairo. She also has a bachelors degree in Religious Studies and Anthropology from the University of Tennessee. Whitney is originally from rural Appalachia in East Tennessee and has worked in the United States, Uganda, Egypt, Turkey, and Germany. She currently resides in Berlin, Germany. Whitney has conducted intensive interviews and collaborative efforts with the United Nations Women and the International Labour Organization in Egypt, as well as the Arab African International Bank in Germany, amongst others.

She has personally interviewed leading experts and activists such as Layla Saad (New York Times bestselling author of the groundbreaking book “Me and White Supremacy”), Ani Zonneveld (Founder of Muslims for Progessive Values), Blair Imani (queer African-American Muslim author and historian), Holly Dagres (Iranian-American analyst and commentator on the Middle East), and more.
