Nora Wehofsits is an International Advocacy Officer at Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) and its Brussels Representative. She works to advance HRHF’s human rights objectives at the European level with a focus on the European Union (EU) and the Council of Europe (CoE).
Nora works with EU and CoE member state representatives and various European-level human rights mechanisms, drawing attention to human rights issues in the countries across the network of Human Rights Houses, and ensuring that the key rights that empower civil society are strengthened and protected.
Additionally, Nora works alongside the Human Rights Houses and their member organisations, providing strategic advocacy support.
Previously, Nora led advocacy activities of the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF). Further work experiences include journalistic/editorial occupations and strategic corporate/science communication in the field of sustainable development. Nora has an academic background in communication science and international criminology with theses about media impacts on criminal justice and the relation between press freedom and corruption.
Interviews given about media freedom and crackdown on journalism in Turkey, Malta or Hungary, for example with Deutschlandradio Kultur. Host/Moderator of several conferences/sessions and expert talks around media freedom, freedom of expression, media and development (incl.
