Margherita Movarelli is Head of Communications and Marketing at the Martens Centre, the official think-tank of the European People’s Party in Brussels. She joined the Centre in 2014 and worked as Senior Project Officer in charge of projects and cooperation with the Centre’s member foundations and partners. Prior to that, she worked as assistant to an MP in the Italian Senate. She was also Head of Research and Communication at the Italian political foundation Magna Carta.
She started her career as a journalist, covering political and institutional affairs for different media outlets, including Italian newspapers and the correspondence office of RAI Italian public television in New York. During her professional activity she has also undertaken in-depth research into comparative party politics and political institutions. She is the author of a book on the role of Italian centre-right think-tanks in the policy-making process, Think tank all’italiana (Rubbettino).
Margherita graduated cum laude in Political Science at the University LUISS Guido Carli of Rome and completed part of her studies at Sciences Po-Institut d’études politiques of Paris. She holds a postgraduate Master in International Relations from the University LUISS Guido Carli of Rome. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Political Science at the Panteion University of Athens.
