Kait is the Managing Editor for Europe at MLex in Brussels. In this role, she runs a team of 30 journalists, guiding the editorial direction of MLex’s coverage of the EU and UK. Her responsibilities include leading ambitious reporting projects, maintaining the newsroom’s commitment to integrity and mentoring the next generation of journalists.
Before joining MLex, she was the Canadian Government reporter at Bloomberg, where she covered national politics, government policy, and Canada’s role on the global stage. Her beat included major events such as the 2021 elections and significant international meetings, such as the NATO, G7, and G20 summits.
She was also a reporter at Politico Europe, covering environmental, agriculture and fisheries policy, as well as hosting a weekly social media show about politics. Her work has also appeared in outlets including the BBC, The Guardian, NPR, Al-Jazeera, VICE, Deutsche Welle and the Irish Times.
Her TEDx talk “Protect Journalists, Protect Freedom” shares the idea that journalists need to be protected in order to protect freedom and democracy. In 2024, she was selected to join Poynter's prestigious Leadership Academy for Women in Media, a testament of her contribution as a leader in journalism.
Kait’s work as a journalist has been recognized with several awards, including gold at the Best in Business Canada Awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers in 2021; a silver medal in environmental reporting from the UN Correspondents’ Association in 2017 and an award for science reporting by the World Health Summit and the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting in 2016.
She provides insightful analysis on political developments and current affairs. She is a regular guest on Euronews' Brussels My Love talk show, where she shares her perspectives on news in European politics and policy. She is also a frequent guest for TV and radio interviews, including for Bloomberg, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and major radio stations across Europe and North America.
In addition to her media appearances, Kait also regularly moderates panels organized by regulators, industry leaders, and academic institutions around the world. She has led discussions at conferences hosted by organizations such as the European Commission, the United Nations, the Canadian government, the Fritt Ord Foundation and major universities.
