Katia Lacasse, Head of Material Stewardship at the European Copper Institute (ECI) Katia Lacasse has over 20 years of experience in environmental legislations and metals. In her current role at the European Copper Institute, the association representing the common interests of the copper industry in Europe, she is heading the Material Stewardship program and advises the copper industry on regulatory and science matters in the field of environment, health and sustainable development towards the EU institutions. Prior to joining trade associations, Dr. Lacasse worked as a laboratory manager, environmental advisor and scientific project leader with private consultancies and universities. Alongside scientific publications, she authored a book on ”Textile chemicals - Environmental Data and Facts”. In addition to her expertise in climate, chemicals and circular economy legislations (the 3 Cs’), her interests include environmental technologies and industrial processes, as well as risk assessments and classifications of metals and complex metals UVCBs under REACH. Dr. Lacasse holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Analytical Chemistry from the Belgium University of Namur, a Ph.D. in Physical-chemistry from the German University of Saarbrücken and a master in Environmental Policy and Management.
