Born in Trieste, Italy, I have been working in an international political and business environment, in Brussels and London. At the age of 29 I became the first woman secretary general of the Liberal International, the world-wide federation of liberal political parties and, later, I have been the secretary general of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform party (today’s ALDE Party).
Today I am the Secretary General of the European Heating Industry, which brings together companies that are leaders in the production of efficient heating systems: I work on energy and climate-related policy issues in the building sector. My business experience includes also working for the Coca-Cola Company Europe in public affairs, dealing, amongst others, with corporate social responsibility and environmental issues.
I have always been passionate about the European integration project, and since 2011 I have been on the Board of the European Movement International, the largest network of pro-European organizations in Europe, of which I am today one of the Vice-Presidents. Inspired by the European Commission project “back to school” for EU staffers, in 2012 I launched this initiative in my former school, and since then I regularly go back to hold classes about European integration. In 2019 I have been a candidate to the European Parliament for the Italian party Più Europa, scoring about 4300 personal preferential votes.
I hold a university degree in International Relations from the University of Trieste (Gorizia base), in Italy, and a master’s Degree in Russian and Post-Soviet Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science. My life project is a European one: I live in Brussels with my German partner and our two children, in a house that is a crossroads of cultures and makes for surprising culinary experiences.
