Elisabeth Wickeri is an experienced public international law advocate with wide-ranging knowledge of international law, extensive experience implementing projects and programs internationally, and strong leadership skills and experience at the project management, executive, and board level. Elisabeth focuses on securing international human rights in closed societies and authoritarian spaces, as well as countries in transition, especially in East and Southeast Asia. Elisabeth partners with local groups and activists on projects to support access to justice, freedom of expression and association, and the rights of lawyers to conduct work on their cases and causes. As part of this work she has designed and implemented numerous training and capacity building projects in person in a range of countries as well as online, produced reports and other written outputs based on field and desk research and analysis, and participated in international fora and accountability mechanisms. She has deep familiarity with the multilateral human rights system and its actors and advocacy in international and domestic settings, and is experienced in assessing and managing security and risk while working in countries hostile to human rights and their advocates. She speaks Mandarin Chinese.
