Through her work at the think tank Agora Industry in the past three years, Eleanor Batilliet focuses on European policies for climate-neutral energy-intensive industries. She is leading research projects relating to embodied carbon, lead market instruments and trade, and organising various trainings on the topic.
Prior to this, Eleanor worked in an EU public affairs consultancy in Brussels, focusing on transport and trade policies, and she also gained experience working on subnational climate finance at the German development agency (GIZ).
Eleanor Batilliet holds a master’s degree in international affairs from the Hertie School in Berlin, where she specialised in trade and climate policies, and a bachelor’s degree in social and political studies from University College London (UCL). She speaks French, English and German.
Eleanor has spoken at various public events (both online and in presence) on topics related to industrial decarbonisation, including:
- A panel on the EU's CBAM at EIF Carbon Market summit in Istanbul in September 2024, with an audience of 50+ people
- A panel on lead markets in the EU at Bellona's annual conference in May 2024 in Brussels
- A live broadcasted debate on the EU's CBAM at the Shanghai Dialogue, a side event of the 6th CIIE International Carbon Neutrality and Green Investment Conference in Shanghai in November 2023
- A keynote at the BETD side event organised by INETTT on the EU's CBAM in March 2023 in Berlin
- An online event organised by the Turkish think tank Shura on the EU's industrial competitiveness agenda and its trade implications in February 2025
- An online event organised by the Mexican think tank IDEA in January 2025 on the EU's CBAM
