Christine Wieck is professor for agricultural and food policy at the University of Hohenheim. Her research, teaching and outreach centers on the quantitative and qualitative analysis of agricultural and food policies in a globalized world. Prior to returning to academia, she worked in the years 2015-2018 for the German Development Agency (GIZ) as an agricultural trade policy advisor. At GIZ, her focus was on the analysis of international agricultural trade and regional integration policies, their impacts on the local food economy and how coherent and enabling domestic agricultural, food and trade policies can contribute to the development of inclusive agricultural value chains. Before joining GIZ, she worked at the University of Bonn and in the US at the Washington State University. She did research and teaching in the area of international agricultural trade policy and markets, on the impact of food safety regulations on agricultural trade and on the EU Common Agricultural Policy. She started her agricultural career with a vocational training as a farmer and worked for several years on organic farms in the West of Germany.
