Crista Huisman is the Head of Sector for Civilian Crisis Management (CSDP) in the EEAS. In this position she is responsible for the overall implementation of the Civilian CSDP Compact, including strengthening the internal-external security nexus (cooperation with Justice and Home Affairs actors such as Europol, Frontex and Eurojust) and Civilian Capability Development.
As a graduated sociologist she puts the main effort of her work into the strengthening of the human dimension in international relations and conflict. After various national policy positions, Crista Huisman shifted her focus to international crisis management. She moved to Georgia and Ukraine, where she served as a senior officer in various assignments within CSDP Missions. After working as a desk officer for Ukraine, and on cooperation with the Justice and Home Affairs agencies (JHA), currently Crista Huisman is working as Head of Sector on Civilian Crisis Management. Through this, she is cooperating with all 27 Member States, Commission services and external and internal security providers like UN, EUROPOL, FRONTEX, EUROJUST and other stakeholders.
