Chiara Monti is an expert on employment, migration and social policies. She has been working at the European Commission since March 2015, first in the Cabinet of the President and currently in the Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. Her current work focuses on labour mobility, social security coordination and employment and social policies in international affairs. Previously she held positions at the World Bank, the Migration Policy Institute, the German Marshall Fund of the US, and the Center for Constitutional Studies and Democratic Development. She holds an M.A. in International Relations and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), as well as an M.A. and B.A. in Economics from the University of Bologna. In 2018, she received the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association “Outstanding Recent Graduate Award”.
Chiara Monti has presented in a wide range of public events, including conferences, seminars and summer schools. She was also featured in podcasts.
She has contributed to several publications, including by the European Commission and the World Bank. She has also published a few articles, such as on "Promising Developments in the Labour Market Integration of Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the EU" in the Africa e Mediterraneo Journal (2018).
In addition, she co-authored, under the collective pseudonym Mimosa Asomim, the French novel Nuit Blanche au Lac Noir (Mon Petit Editeur, Paris 2010).
