Clare Duffy is a chartered engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the electricity industry. In ESB Networks, the teams that Clare manage are responsible for planning network access for demand or generation/RES/Flexibility customers who submit an application to connect to the distribution system. Previous roles have included ESB UK General Manager; Operations Manager for ESB International; Head of the Strategic Consultancy Group; project management roles with ESB International on power infrastructure developments in Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East and a power system protection engineer with ALSTOM in the USA and UK. In addition to her roles with ESB, Clare is a non-executive director of Elexon (organisation responsible for the administration of the Balancing and Settlement Code in the GB electricity market with settlement transactions c£1.7bn per annum). She sits on the Executive Board of Engineers Ireland. She was a member of the Advisory Group for Wave Energy Scotland between 2015 - 2017. She has post-graduate qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Management.
Regular presenter at industry conferences. For example in 2017, chaired a panel session at the Hawthorne Global Energy Summit in New York in April; presented at ESBN Customer Conference in Sept, presented at EnergyExpo Ireland in Oct and presented at SolarIreland in November.
Media trained and have done radio and TV spots. Ahead of President Higgins’s State Visit to the UK in 2014, I did the Sunday Business Papers Review on live TV focusing on British Irish economic ties and foreign direct investment on the Murnaghan Show on Sky News.
