Elisabeth Christen is a Research Fellow at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) in Vienna. Prior to joining the WIFO, she worked as research assistant at the University of Linz and Innsbruck. She holds a masters degree in Economics from the University of Linz (2008) and a PhD degree from the University of Innsbruck with a major in International Economics (2013). Her research focuses on empirical analysis of international trade issues, including foreign direct investment, the internationalisation strategies of multinational firms and trade in services and the labour market impacts of trade as well as empirical analysis of trade policy. She is a member of numerous research teams, which she often led, and was involved in both national and international projects in the areas noted. She has also been an expert to the Austrian Advisory Council for foreign trade policy and is a member of the Advisory Board on Foreign Trade Statistics at Statistics Austria. In addition, she is an expert to and part of the organising team at the Research Centre in International Economics (FIW) which provides support to the Austrian scientific community and offers expert analysis on a number of current policy related issues in the field of International Economics.
