Committed researcher in social sciences. Linking research to practice to induce change. I dedicate most of my work to the interrelated mechanisms and pathways to problem substance use and treatment among migrants and ethnic minorities, within an ecosocial and systems approach. I'm especially interested in how these and new emerging issues relate to treatment accessibility in the Belgian and European context. I also work around the critical questions surrounding 'cultural competency', especially in European substance use treatment services.

I am also very much interested in participatory science as exemplified by side activities in civil society organisations and volunteer work. I also work on evidence-based prevention science, its methods and applicability in the European context.
