Celine Fabrequette is a Young Professional with Master’s degree in EU
Law & EU Social Affairs. She started caring about the EU because she
really liked the idea of freedom of movement which, in her mind, was a
great way to promote cultural exchange, acceptance, and integration.
But as she continued her studies, it was becoming very clear to her that the European Union needed to get closer to its citizens by creating a sense of belonging and to start working towards more social inclusion and equity. As she entered professional life, she discovered a new reality: Youth and Women's inequality. So, she decided that it was time for her to get more involved and take a stand.
ACP YPN (African, Caribbean, Pacific Young Professional Network) was the first youth group in which she works towards providing to ACP Youth the space and opportunities to engage with policymakers at European and ACP level. As Secretary-General, she leads the first ever
ACP YPN delegation to participate in the European Youth Event in 2016 & 2018 in Strasbourg, co-organised panels at the European Development Days and with other youth organisations co-organised the African-EU Youth Summit. She has spoken multiple times before various stakeholders such as at the European Council working group, the African Union, and the ACP Secretariat. Through those, she has
been making sure that youth and politicians engaged with each other. Celine is now ADYFEs’ (African Diaspora Youth Forum in Europe) head Communication & programme manager on EU relation & SDGs5
experts. She thinks that it is essential that youth be involved at all level of the legislative process; that is way ahead of the 2019 European Elections she developed and has been together with her team implement a new framework for civic engagement: #DiasporaVote
Initiative (YouthLead and YouthImplemented).
She believes in coherence and collaboration among the ACP Youth and non-ACP Youth. The world is changing and there is no valid reason why the youth of today should be put on the sidewalk when it comes to the decisions being made for tomorrow. To resume she is a young woman helping to create a world which she herself, as well as her siblings and children, would be happy to live in her word: "If you want to change you need to take the steps towards making that change; only one person is needed to start a change. We all have a part to play".
