As a team leader of a team of 30 at the marine conservation NGO Blue Ventures in Madagascar, my expertise lies in empowering local communities to manage their resources sustainably. Throughout our programmes on fisheries, mangroves, community health and education, I always search for those win-win situations between economic development and environmental protection. This current position is perfectly complementary with my previous position at the environmental NGO Conservation International, where I worked for 5 years as a European Policy Manager. My main focus was on the EU's impact on global deforestation, leading me to work on trade policies and specific commodities such as palm oil, soy, coffee or cocoa. Before that I had worked for the Inter-American Development Bank and at the United Nations Environment Programme in Mexico, in both instances on climate action at the local, state and national levels, including the national programme to Reduce Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+).
During my Master's Degree at the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) at Sciences Po Paris, I had already gained field expertise in Brazil, as I was doing academic research on cocoa production in the North of Brazil, where deforestation rates were rampant due to large scale cattle production.
