I've worked in the NGO sector for 30 years - in Ireland, the USA, UK, Germany and Belgium. Starting in health and homelessness, I moved to the INGO sector in 2004, spending seven years with Concern Worldwide, moving on through Fairtrade International in Germany and thence to my current position with IPPF. My technical background is in resource mobilization, communications and branding. I'm passionate about women's rights, particularly reproductive rights, and never prouder than on May 25, 2018 when my native Ireland voted to remove reproductive coercion from our Constitution. Also passionate about an informed political economy approach to development, focusing on what CAN be done, not what SHOULD be done. I'm a good speaker and enjoy it. Most recently I have been speaking about the Global Gag Rule, the Irish abortion referendum and the importance of values based framing in communications.
I've spoken at numerous public events, eg AIDS 2018 (pre-conference), WPL Summit 2017, EuroNGOs Conference 2016, WHO Europe RC 2016, events at the European Parliament, IPPF Member Association public events etc
