Beth leads Wellcome’s UK & EU policy and advocacy activities, including Brexit. Our work is focused on ensuring that policy and law support research and innovation through strong funding for research; access to talented people; and regulation that promotes public confidence.
Beth has worked extensively the regulation of health research. In 2017 she was awarded an MBE for services to science for advocating against amendments to the EU General Data Protection Regulation that would have been severely damaging for research.
Prior to joining Wellcome Beth worked at the Royal Society of Chemistry and undertook a PhD and postdoctoral research at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge. She holds a degree in Natural Sciences (Biochemistry) from the University of Cambridge.
