Reem Alsalem is an independent consultant specialising in forced displacement, humanitarian response and refugee issues. She was a staff member of UNHCR for 17 years before becoming an independent consultant in mid-2016. In the course of her career with UNHCR, she served on all continents in conflict and post-conflict settings in countries around the globe.
She has extensive experience in the areas of refugee protection, assisting and protecting victims of trafficking in human beings, needs assessments, and protection trainings, and the design and implementation of protection policy and advocacy strategies.
Reem has an MA in International Human Rights Law (2003) from the University of Oxford and an MA in International Relations (1999) from the American University of Cairo.
