The open-source project Speakerinnen.org aims to increase the visibility of women at conferences, on talk shows, in the media and wherever public speaking is taking place. Women can subscribe themselves with their topics and references into the database and thus be found better by event organizers – as experts, moderators, speakers.

The project was launched six years ago for International Women’s Day – in May 2020, almost 3,000 women are registered with Speakerinnen.org. Their topics range from architecture, agricul-ture, digitalization and mobility to data science, IT security and futurology. The database is free of charge – both for women, who are registered with their skills and experience, and for event organizations, who can find competent experts for conferences, panels and talks.

The database is searchable by topic, thus invalidating the old argument for event organizers “we haven’t found a woman for topic xy”.
